(text from dÈbruit bandcamp):

I just want to help Haiti so i made this Ep - all profits go to Haiti - here’s more details below that have been sent out to promote the cause…..Please donate though all money goes to the UNICEF Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal.

Heart Beats 4 Haiti is a new EP by dEbruit created using samples of traditional Haitian music. All proceeds from the sale of the release – which is being made available immediately – go the UNICEF Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal.

After seeing the devastation and destruction caused by the recent earthquake in Haiti, dEbruit felt compelled to do something to help. The French producer composed and recorded the resulting Heart Beats 4 Haiti EP in the days immediately after the disaster struck. dEbruit combines his distinctive, angular, “bump-hop” style with traditional Haitian sounds such as Zook and Kompa on four tracks of blazing future-funk. Samples are woven around dEbruit’s juddering beats and scything synths, creating a cut-up, Cubist reframing of Haitian music.

UNICEF provides humanitarian aid and assistance to children in developing countries and disaster hit areas across the world. The consequences of the ongoing crisis in Haiti – where 45% of the population are 18 or under – have been especially dire for children. In addition to basic needs such as food, water, shelter and medicine, many have been orphaned, or, due to the earthquake happening during school hours, separated from their families. There are also growing concerns over child smuggling. UNICEF has already raised £80 million in order to help the children of Haiti but more funds are urgently needed to support their ongoing recovery programmes.
